MISSIONS

Our Misson is to present Jesus in positive and loving ways, to help people grow spiritually as disciples, and to make the world a better place by relieving suffering.

 COSTA RICA

Now that we have your attention, we are looking for volunteers to head up the mission to Costa Rica for early spring 2010.  We need prayer warriors, organizers, fund raisers, and missionaries.  All you need is a love for the Lord.  Don't wait until you feel you have enough time or money or enough faith or know enough about the Bible.  God will provide if you are willing.

Starting September, we will be gathering care packages to send to our military family and friends.  A list of suggested items will be in the Narthex.  Please provide us with any names of military family and friends that you think would like a care package.  Continue to keep them in your prayers.
Fifteen Bibles are on their way to China through Voice of the Martyrs by your pocket change and the help of the Sunday school classes.  Please keep the recipients in your prayers.  Bring in your pocket change to help spread the good news.
Our team of volunteers is continuing nursing home visits and hopes to expand to hospital and prison ministry.  Anyone interested in a visit or volunteering, please let us know.
Money for missions is welcomed anytime.  Please note "Missions" on your donations.
Remember, James 2:26: "As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead."  Does your faith need reviving?  Come serve on the missions team!
In His service,
Carolyn Venable

Comfort Teddy Bear Mission of FUMC

Would you like to be a missionary for Jesus?  You can be one right here in our church by participating in our new Comfort Teddy Bear Mission project.  We are asking for contributions for both new and clean used bears.  They will be tagged as below and placed in a church pew for anyone to take and give to someone they know who needs comfort for any reason, as a gift of love from our FUMC family.

You may know: a person in Hospice, a nursing home; who is bedridden; in a hospital; one who is lonely; one who is grieving for a loved one; who has been abused; or is facing a crisis in their lives for any reason.  You can send the bear, or better yet, take the bear yourself and see what love the bear does for the recipient and the response given.

The bear will have the following two-sided tag tied around its neck.

This bear has been among the congregation of Naples First United Methodist Church.

" I have heard the Word read, prayers prayed, songs of praise and the sermons preached.  I have been given love and loved others. Now I come to you with the blessings of worship and love from your friends"    God Loves You.

If you would like to pass your bear along later to someone for comfort, please wash your bear, if washable, to prevent passing along germs.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of St. Matthew's House. We rely on volunteers for their diverse skills and experiences to support our efforts. They historically contribute fresh ideas and new approaches and are ambassadors who help tell the St. Matthew's House story to the community. We welcome all who want to volunteer and especially need full-time residents of Collier County. As season ends, many of our volunteers leave, but our needs continue.

A volunteer's experience with us is very important and we strive to make it fulfilling and rewarding. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please complete a Volunteer Application online or simply print it out and mail it to us.

Volunteer Opportunities include Thrift Stores, Marketing and Fundraising, Food Pantry, Case Management, Transportation, Soup Kitchen, Prep Kitchen, Building Maintenance, Administrative Work and Program/Ministry. Please contact us at 774-0500 for additional information.
