The United Methodist Women is the largest women's organization in the world and we at First Church have a vital and active group who are committed to mission!

Our PURPOSE: The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ. To develop a creative, and supportive fellowship: to expand concepts of mission through participation in global ministries of the church.

The United Methodist Women at First United Methodist Church are 75 members strong.

  • There are two circles, each one meeting in a designated home or church room the first Tues. of every month at 10AM. 
  • The circles meet together for a unit meeting the fourth Tues. of the month at 10AM in Barton Hall.
  •  All women are invited to join. You need only to commit yourself to the purpose and choose to belong.
  • During the summer months June-September our circles and unit meetings disband, but start up in October.

We also have a UMW Reading Program to round us out as Christians. Our selection of books is in the church library to the right. It is labeled "Reading Program" and there are forms that tell us how the program works.


We are concerned with social action with a continuing focus on th needs of women and children. We support various local organizations to this end, and most recently "Grace Place" in Golden Gate.Our pledging and sale of Bazaar items and pecans is our source of income.
